Enrichment products work hard, and a quick weekly inspection keeps them safe. Here's what to check.
Rigid feeders and puzzles
Look for cracks, sharp edges, and loose or spinning parts that no longer seat properly. Squeeze-test plastic seams — if anything flexes where it shouldn't, retire it.
Mats and fabric products
Check for torn textures, loose threads and chewed corners. A frayed edge becomes a swallowing risk quickly with an enthusiastic dog.
Check after washing
Heat and detergent age materials. Inspect products after cleaning, and dry everything thoroughly — trapped moisture degrades materials and hygiene.
When in doubt, replace
